Terms of service
Last updated 27 October 2026
In short: Shelfwide is a free place to read. Only import books you have the right to read, use it fairly, and understand that we provide it as it is while we keep improving it.
Using Shelfwide
These terms apply when you use Shelfwide at shelfwide.app, app.shelfwide.app or in our apps. By using Shelfwide, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
Your account
You can read without an account. If you create one, keep access to your email, Apple or Google account safe, because that is how you sign in. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at hello@shelfwide.app if you think someone else has used it.
Books you bring
You can import EPUB and PDF files. Only import books you own or otherwise have the right to read. Imported books stay on your device; we do not receive them, and they remain yours.
Free classics
The free classics in Shelfwide come from Project Gutenberg and are in the public domain in the United States. Copyright laws differ between countries, so please check that a book is free to read where you live. Project Gutenberg's own terms apply to its books.
Fair use of Shelfwide
Please don't:
- Break the law, or other people's rights, using Shelfwide.
- Try to get into accounts or systems that aren't yours, or disrupt Shelfwide for others.
- Download from Shelfwide automatically or in bulk, or overload our servers.
We may suspend or close accounts that do, and we may limit use to keep Shelfwide working for everyone.
Changes to Shelfwide
We are building Shelfwide in the open, so features will change, and some may be added or removed. We may update these terms; if a change matters, we will let signed-in readers know before it takes effect.
No guarantees
We work hard to keep Shelfwide running well, but we provide it “as is”, without promises that it will always be available or free of errors. Keep your own copies of books you import.
Our responsibility
As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, or for losing data stored only on your device. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be limited.
Ending
You can stop using Shelfwide at any time, and ask us to delete your account by writing to hello@shelfwide.app. Our privacy policy explains what happens to your information.
